Zamil Air Conditioners was founded in 1974, and is the first major business venture in manufacturing sector for the Al Zamil Group of Companies. It is also the first manufacturing unit for air conditioners to be established in Saudi Arabia.

Zamil Air Conditioners manufactures both consumer and commercial range of air conditioners and has sales operations in over 55 countries in the Middle East, Europe, America, Africa, Australia and the Far East.

The company operations are structured into six Strategic Business Units (SBUs) supporting six in-house product and service brands as well as a number of international brands under the OEM Sales.

The six in-house brands are Classic, Cooline, CoolCare, Clima Tech, Geoclima and Kessler Clima Tech.

The six SBUs are:

1. Consumer Products supporting Classic, Cooline and OEM brands for Consumer range of air conditioners.
2. Unitary & Applied Products supporting Classic, Cooline and OEM brands for commercial range of air conditioners.
3. Cooline Products Ltd. - distribution entity for international markets.
4. Zamil Cool Care - service and maintenance provider mainly in Saudi Arabia.
5. Clima Tech Airconditioners GmbH - independent business and supporting other SBUs for their requirement of Air Handling Units. It also manufactures Air Handling Units under the brand Kessler Clima Tech.
6. Geoclima srl - independent business and supporting other SBUs for their requirement of Chillers.

The first four SBUs - Consumer Products, Unitary & Applied Products, Cooline Products Ltd. and Zamil Cool Care direct their business operations from the corporate headquarters at Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

The production facilities at Dammam are shared by Consumer Products and Unitary & Applied Products.

Geoclima and Clima Tech, both have their own production and functional departments located at Monfalcone (Italy) and Grunbach (Austria) respectively.

All the six SBUs, while operating independently, supplement each other's activities in a way that makes synergy work at its best and achieve the corporate goals more efficiently.

OEM Sales - Private Labeling

Since 1992, Zamil Air Conditioners has been producing branded air conditioners under OEM Sales for some of the world's leading air conditioner brands. The manufacture of these brands at Zamil Air Conditioners is a testimony to the high standard production processes being followed at Zamil Air Conditioners.

Most of the units produced under the private labeling agreements are for window and mini-split systems, however the company expects to expand its OEM offering in the residential and light commercial units as well, under the Unitary range.

Middle East Air Conditioners - Joint Venture with GE

Besides the several distinct business units, Zamil Air Conditioners also partners with GE Appliances-Europe, since 1997, in the form of a joint venture called Middle East Air Conditioners (MEAC), for manufacture and marketing of GE brand air conditioners.

MEAC was awarded the license to manufacture Window, Mini Splits and Ducted Split types under the brand names GE, Hotpoint and RCA.  Today, MEAC enjoys extensive coverage in Saudi Arabia, GCC and the African market.  In an ever-changing market, MEAC continually strives to acquire new technologies and stylish integrated design, with optimum performance and reliability that bring great value to customers.

Factories and Production

Zamil Air Conditioners has its prime-manufacturing base at Dammam, Saudi Arabia besides two other specialty production facilities in Austria and Italy operated by Clima Tech and Geoclima respectively.

The company can produce up to 440,000 room air conditioners, 60,000 mini-split systems and 36,500 central air-conditioning systems per year.

The quality systems and policies at Zamil Air Conditioners are approved as per ISO 9001: 2000 certification.

Zamil Air Conditioners is the first company in Saudi Arabia to receive the SASO (Saudi Arabia's Standard Organization) certificate for room air conditioners. Its products and services are also certified with:

The Test Laboratory

Air Conditioning Technology Center (ATC)

Zamil Air Conditioners boasts of a state-of-the-art test facility - Air Conditioning Technology Center (ATC). Built at a cost of US $ 3 million, the Center occupies an area of 30,000 sq. feet and is the only one of its kind in the Middle East.

The ATC has been commissioned and built by Intertek Testing Services (ITS), the global leaders in testing, inspection and certification services based in Courtland, New York, USA.

With ATC, Zamil Air Conditioners is the only manufacturer in the region capable of guaranteeing local and international certifications of its products. The Center is of specific assistance in following areas:

• Performance test of whole range of air conditioners - consumer as well as commercial, in capacities from ½ ton to 500 tons.

• Support finer research and development initiatives through implementation of state-of-the-art computational programs.

• Speed up new product launches through digital and online processing of tests.

• Guarantee local and international certification programs such as SASO, ARI, UL, AHAM etc.

• Enhance the reliability levels of components used in ZAC products.
